LA><ART PRESENTS: LA><SOUND, A SERIES OF INTERSTITIAL SOUND INSTALLATIONS

LA><SOUND engages the entryway as a project space for imbedded sound experiments featuring looping and extended ambient works, conceptual projects, and site specific interpretations of the gallery and street to be played continuously at regular intervals. The space - a 100 square foot portal in front of the gallery - consists of two white panel walls, a bisecting ramp and handrail, a large wall of glass and a glass doorway with the LA><ART logo. A single outdoor speaker has been installed in the ceiling of this portal and awaits activation by creative content.

Our inaugural piece is Gino De Domenicis' D'IO (1971), selected by The Wrong Gallery. Consisting of the artist's booming laughter on eternal repeat, the piece oscillates between mirth and madness. The artist deftly conflates the voice of God with his own in the double entendre D'IO, meaning God in Italian but also translating literally as "of I" or "mine". De Domenicis' cackling will be played continuously for the entire month of May, taunting and disorienting gallery audiences and nearby commuters alike as the "laugh track" spills out on to La Cienega Boulevard.
